Property Advert of the Week: Winston Hills Estate (1965)

Below is a 1965 newspaper advertisement for Winston Hills. L. J. Hooker developed the suburb. The advertisement promoted what was then a new suburb in the city's north-west. 2, 200 dwellings were to be built in three neighbourhoods.

Property Advert of the Week: Wondakiah, Wollstonecraft (1997)

Below is a 1997 newspaper advertisement for the Wondakiah Estate at Wollstonecraft. The estate is a brownfield development built on what was formerly the North Shore Gasworks which operated on the site between 1913 and 1987. Prior to that, the land was a sugar mill for Colonial Sugar Refinery (CSR) and was even an explosives factory.

In 1997, apartments were on offer from $395 000, but residents had access to resort-style facilities such as a marina, jetty, clubhouse, tennis courts, swimming pools, cafe, security and exotic gardens.

Property Advert of the Week: Wimpey Homes (1960)

Property Advert of the Week is back for 2023. This advertisement was published by Wimpey Homes in 1960 to promote a new residential estate that they were building at East Ryde (located to the north of The Field of Mars Cemetery). Based on the information provided, the display home was located at 28 Cilento Close and has since been demolished.

Property Advert of the Week: Jacksons Landing, Pyrmont (1998)

Jacksons Landing is the housing development that occupies the site of the CSR complex at Pyrmont. Jacksons Landing was a staged development with buildings completed between 2000 and 2021. Below is one of the first advertisements to promote the development from 1998.

Property Advert of the Week: Hopeton Keys, Birchgrove (1997)

Below is a newspaper advertisement from 1997 promoting the Hopeton Keys development at Birchgrove. Apartments were on sale from $310 000, while townhouses started at $460 000. If a buyer wanted a marina berth, they could purchase it for at least $80 000.
