Property Advert of the Week: Stock & Holdings double page spread (1968)

This week, I am posting a double-page spread from Stocks & Holdings Projects, which appeared in The Sun on August 2, 1968. The double-page spread features three advertisements:

  • Ocean View Units (Maroubra Beach) - With spectacular views of the ocean, Maroubra Beach, Sydney CBD and the Blue Mountains.
  • Woodlyne Park Estate (Baulkham Hills)
  • The Pines, Manly

Property Advert of the Week: A.O. Bentley & Co - Epping and Baulkham Hills Land Releases (1962)

Below is a 1962 newspaper advertisement from A.O. Bentley & Co. promoting new land releases at Epping and Baulkham Hills.

The land release at Epping is not as close to the station as it is in reality. It is in the vicinity of the M2 Motorway and appears to be closer to Beecroft and Cheltenham.

Property Advert of the Week: Mala Homes (1962)

Below is a 1962 newspaper advertisement from Mala Homes. House and land packages were on offer at Baulkham Hills, Pendle Hill and Liverpool. Deposits started from £595 ($1190) at Liverpool to £845 ($1690) at Baulkham Hills. 

In todays money according to the RBA Inflation Calculator , the deposit was approximately $18 200.

Property Advert of the Week: Baulkham Hills Land Release (1972)

Below is a newspaper advertisement from 1972 promoting a land release at Castle Hill. Going by the map, it appears that the land release was in fact in Baulkham Hills. The land release appears to be concentrated around Arndill Avenue/Templeton Crescent. The cost of land was just $9500 (equivalent to approximately $130 000 in today's money according to the RBA Inflation Calculator)

Property Advert of the Week: Leslie Homes (1967)

Below is a Leslie Homes advertisement that was published in The Daily Telegraph on September 9, 1967. The exhibition homes were located at either Villawood, East Hills, Bass Hill and Baulkham Hills.

In 2015, I posted one advertisement from April of that same year. Note that during that time, Leslie Homes had completed its transition from advertising in pounds and shillings to dollars and cents.

Real Estate Advert of the Week: Baulkham Hills Fashion Village, 1968

Below is a newspaper advertisement by Lucas & Tait for the Baulkham Hills Fashion Village estate dating from 1968.

The estate was located off Seven Hills Road, around "2/3rds of a mile from Baulkham Hills shopping centre". The advertisement does not feature any street plans or name any streets.

Blocks were on sale from $3000 (Around $38 000 in todays money according to the RBA Inflation Calculator), which was great value for those seeking to have their own home on their own block of land.

Property Advert of the Week: Hooker-Rex Land Sales Advertisement (1966)

Below is a newspaper advertisement from Hooker-Rex dating from 1966. Three blocks of land were on offer at Kendall Street, Sans Souci and nine blocks of land at Cross Street, Baulkham Hills.  

Only a £70 deposit ($140) was required.

Below is a 1971 advertisement from The Daily Telegraph promoting the Leslie Homes Exhibition Village at Baulkham Hills.

This is an advertisement by developer Stocks and Holdings that appeared in The Daily Telegraph on March 26, 1966. Blocks of land were on offer at: Bass Hill (Bankstown), North Rocks (Carlingford), Normanhurst and Baulkham Hills.

Property Advert of the Week: Crestwood Hills, Baulkham Hills (1966)

Here is another classic advertisement from Parkes Developments in 1966. This was for the Crestwood Estate at Baulkham Hills, in the vicinity of St Michaels Catholic Church. Note that while Australia now had decimal currency, Parkes advertised the deposit price in pounds.

Property Advert of the Week: The Glencairn by Denham Homes (1967)

This week, I share with you an advertisement for the Glencairn, a model home that was available from Denham Homes for around $10 500 in 1967 ($122 000 in today's money according to the RBA Inflation Calculator). The key feature was the big living and kitchen areas. The living room was 31 feet by 14 feet long. Model homes were on display at Baulkham Hills and Yagoona.
